For more than 20 years, we have sought to achieve systemic and institutional change for animals. While this does not come easily, we are committed to putting in the work needed to find solutions that last. By addressing problems at their roots, our investigations and campaigns have led to changes which touch the lives of millions of animals.

We campaign to improve the lives of animals farmed for food and promote a transition to lower consumption of animal products.

Fought for a ban on new battery cages for laying ducks, sparing 1.7 million ducks from a rise in cage farming

Secured a ban on the slaughter of poultry in traditional wet markets, affecting 26 million birds per year

Secured regulations on welfare at slaughter and a ban on underground slaughterhouses

Secured the enactment of official welfare guidelines for pigs, laying hens and dairy cattle

Won legal protections for animals during transport, including welfare requirements and mandatory training

Exposed live cattle being force-fed with water, leading to mandatory CCTV in cattle slaughterhouses

We advocate for an end to unnecessary animal testing and the adoption of the 3R Principles of Replacement, Reduction and Refinement.

Awarded the LUSH Prize for prioritising non-animal testing in Taiwan's chemical registration process

Moved the government to establish an inter-ministerial body to advance alternatives to animal testing

Struck lapinized swine fever vaccines from Taiwan's list of approved vaccines, sparing 27,000 rabbits per year

Sought the approval of non-animal testing methods, sparing countless rabbits and horseshoe crabs

Abolished multiple animal tests from Taiwan's health-claim food certification, including the 'forced swim test'

Since the passage of the Animal Protection Act in 1998, we have worked to transform the fate of companion animals in every corner of Taiwan.

Lobbied for animal protection units, ending management of stray animals by garbage collection squads

Forced the closure of non-compliant animal shelters, following a Taiwan-wide investigation

Advocated for an end to the genetic abuse, securing new management requirements for dog breeders and traders

Exposed illegal dog and cat breeders, leading to the reform of regulations governing the pet trade

Spurred the creation of animal control officers and animal protection inspectors in Taiwan

Joined forces with South Korean organizations to prevent the legalization of the dog meat trade
